Belvedere Staff Prepare for the Quality Agency Visit

The Australian Aged Care Quality Agency (Quality Agency) commenced functions relating to residential aged care services from 1 January 2014 and will commence functions relating to home care services from 1 July 2014 replacing the Aged Care Standards and Accreditation Agency Limited (ACSAA Ltd).
The Quality Agency is the new agency responsible for the accreditation and monitoring of Australia’s residential aged care providers. The Quality Agency is also continuing the ACSAA important work of supporting and promoting quality in aged care service delivery through its education program which Belvedere staff have attended.
The Quality Agency will become the sole agency that aged care service providers will respond to regarding quality assurance of aged care services, whether in an aged care home or in a person’s own home. Belvedere continues to prepare for its Accreditation on the 26th and 27th August 2014. The process of Accreditation measures the performance of our facility and how care is delivered to the residents against the Accreditation standards.
The process begins with self assessment of the 44 standards within 4 hierarchal standards.
Those being:
- Standard 1: Management systems, Staffing & Organisation Development
- Standard 2: Health & Personal Care
- Standard 3: Care Recipient Lifestyle
- Standard 4: Physical Environment and Safe Systems
We look forward to welcoming the assessors to Belvedere to demonstrate all the wonderful work our staff do on a daily basis. We are proud of our commitment to Continuous Improvement, Regulatory Compliance and Education and Staff Development.
We had a positive visit in April and the assessor was impressed with the feedback provided by Residents and Relatives. He was also impressed by the
knowledge of our staff. After the visit, the assessment team will prepare a report and the Quality Agency will make a decision about our accreditation, including the period of accreditation and future visits.
The assessors will be available on both days to speak to the Management, Staff, Residents and Relatives.
