An update on the COVID-19 cluster at Belvedere Aged Care 29th October

We can report that at the time of writing, PCR testing conducted in the last 48hours shows no new cases of COVID-19 have been detected in our residents or staff. While we still have active cases, we are moving towards a recovery phase of our outbreak with the South East Public Health Unit (SEPHU) this week declaring an end to quarantine for many of our residents in North wing. Our total active cases, at the time of writing, is now 13.

Sadly, an additional 4 residents have lost their lives since our last update. We are deeply saddened by the death of our residents, an awful consequence of the COVID-pandemic. Our thoughts and prayers are with their loved ones at this sad time.

Of the 8 staff who became infected with COVID-19, 6 have now ended their quarantine period. The remaining 2 will end their quarantine period this weekend.

We continue our 2nd daily PCR testing regime for all our residents and staff. In addition, we conduct Rapid Antigen Testing (RAT) on all staff prior to their commencement of shift and on residents who may show early symptoms.

Our first responsibility is to our residents and their loved ones at this time. We are working hard to ensure lines of communication remain open and our actions are transparent. Resident nominated next-of-kin continue to receive daily phone calls updating them on the health and wellbeing of their loved ones. Regular facility updates including our current visitation protocols are provided to family networks of our residents via email correspondence.

Belvedere continues to act on advice from the Department of Health and medical authorities.
