COVID-19 update: Belvedere enacts restricted access to protect residents

March 13th 2020

Dear Residents and Relatives,

Re: COVID-19 Update

As you may be aware, COVID-19 has officially been declared a global pandemic by the World Health Organisation.

Belvedere Aged Care Management met on Thursday 12th March in consideration of this new update and associated warnings circulated to us by the Department of Health, the World Health Organisation and the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission.

The health and safety of our residents is paramount, and we want to reassure you that we are doing everything we can to protect your loved ones.

Effective 5pm Friday 13th March, Belvedere Aged Care will, as a precautionary measure, be restricting access and locking down the facility. This will be in place and reviewed as per direction from the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commissioner.

Belvedere Aged Care understands that this may cause some concern. To discuss alternative arrangements in contacting your loved ones, we invite you to contact Carmel (Director of Nursing) or Ram (Deputy, Director of Nursing) directly on 9574 1355.  We will continue to notify Next of Kin should any emergency arise.

Our decision is in line with our Infection Control Management plan. We have zero cases at Belvedere and there is no change to our staffing.

We will reassess the risk and consider the updated information as provided by the Department of Health and the World Health Organisation.

We encourage you to remain vigilant, practising hand hygiene and infection control measures.

Thank you for your continued understanding to comply with these precautionary steps. Belvedere Aged Care is committed to continued communication and care of all residents and staff and will provide further updates as they come to light.
